Richmond County Roofing is an independent, plain-language roofing guide written for homeowners on Staten Island and in the nearby New Jersey bayshore towns.

The history of the name

For years, a local contractor operated as Richmond County Roofing and Home Improvement, serving Staten Island and the Keyport area of New Jersey. Its listings still appear in older business directories. That company is no longer in business, and this website has no connection to it. It cannot take service calls, honor old warranties, or speak for the former owners.

The domain name was registered after it expired, and rather than let a good local name go dark, it now hosts what you see here: an ad-free set of guides on how roofs in this part of the world fail and how to deal with it when they do.

Who maintains it

The site is maintained by the team at HEP Roofing, a roofing company in Knoxville, Tennessee. HEP does not serve Staten Island. The guides here are general education, informed by daily roofing work in a different storm-prone market, and adapted to the housing stock and rules of New York City.
